Naby Keita will undergo a scan on his thigh when he returns to Liverpool from Kigali this week, with the Guinea midfielder optimistic over his fitness.

The extent of Keita's injury is now unknown but it is the latest set-back for Liverpool and another unwanted distraction for Klopp.

The 23-year-old had to be carried from the pitch after picking up an injury late on in the first half of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Rwanda.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp blasted the Uefa Nations League last week, saying the worldwide windows now put too much strain on players so the German will be left ruing this weekend.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have not yet been ruled out for Saturday's fixture.

The news came as another blow for Jurgen Klopp and his side with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah also picking up injuries during the worldwide break. The centre-back will miss Holland's friendly with Belgium this evening but Liverpool hope he'll be able to feature for them at the weekend. It is reported that he was carried off on the back of a team-mate at the interval because a stretcher was not available.

It remains to be seen if Keita will make the trip to the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday evening but Liverpool's medical team are in for a busy few days as the midfielder is the fourth player to be returning from global duty with an injury.
