It appears that his character luck may be improving a bit, as The Sun reports that Madden is on the top of the list for James Bond replacement castings.

His portrayal of sergeant David Budd has caught the attention of James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and she is reportedly going to tap Madden to replace Daniel Craig as 007 once he leaves the role. "Not only is he on top of Barbara's list, but she is preparing to offer the role".

Other pmuch-discussed candidates have included Tom Hardy; Tom Hiddleston; Idris Elba, who would be the first Bond of color; and even Emily Blunt, who would be the first female Bond, although Broccoli previously dismissed that last one as speculation.

Richard Madden rose to fame playing the ill-fated Robb Stark on Game of Thrones.

He has also starring in a handful of films, such as Disney's live-action Cinderella remake, as well as the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman.

The next Bond film will be the 25th and Craig's last as the super spy - he said back in 2015 that if he did a fifth Bond film, it would only be for the money. James Bond will return to cinemas for the 25th time and the film will be released in the United Kingdom on February 14, 2020.
