Tickets are available now for purchase. The new service, which will include two daily flights, will begin on February 14 and will replace United's current service to Newark, New Jersey, which will end on February 13.

A spokesperson for United says shifting the flights will allow the airline to strengthen its East Coast hubs. Later that morning, Flight SQ21 would make the first nonstop return flight back to Singapore in half a decade.

The move will leave Delta's daily flights to and from New York's LaGuardia airport as the only direct flights from Lexington to the New York City area.

This new service will begin on February 14 and will replace United's current service to Newark, N.J., which will conclude February 13.

Commenting on the achievement, Joe McGregor, North America Supply Director said: "We are proud to play our part in fuelling the world's new longest non-stop flight and are delighted to be supporting Singapore Airlines as they expand their presence in the US".

"There's no substitute for a great network; serving destinations with convenient flight times that our customers want".

Beginning April 6, 2019, United will begin nonstop weekend service between Chicago O'Hare and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Flight SQ22 marked the first non-stop flight between the Lion City and the Big Apple since 2013 when Singapore Airlines or SIA pulled the plug on the service.

United announced last week its enhanced schedule offering at Denver International Airport, the airline's fastest growing hub, offering more flights, better flight times and more connections.
