The president wrote: "I am watching the Democrat Party led (because they want Open Borders and existing weak laws) assault on our country by Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, whose leaders are doing little to stop this large flow of people, INCLUDING MANY CRIMINALS, from entering Mexico to U.S". The president has said repeatedly that he thinks immigration should be a top issue on the campaign trail, as Republicans are fighting hard for control of the House and Senate.

The official also said the migrant caravan will be a "prominent" topic of discussion at those meetings. Believing their chances of entering the U.S. are greater in numbers, the migrants have been hitching rides and hiking through Guatemala, with the aim of approaching the United States through Mexico.

President says no more money will be given to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador if the caravan is not stopped; William La Jeunesse reports on the march to America.

Upon reaching Mexico, the migrants must show a valid visa to enter the country, or face deportation, therefore Trump has focused much of his pressure on the Mexican government.

The president's tweets come after more than 2,000 Honduran migrants hoping to come to the USA resumed their travel northward Wednesday even hours after Trump warned "anybody entering the United States illegally will be arrested and detained" in a tweet.

Trump also suggested that the migrants hoping to enter the USA are linked to crime and drugs that he said are "pouring in", and he called on Mexico to stop the "onslaught". Visas were granted to a handful of these migrants.

The presidentmade his threats in a series of tweets early Thursday morning, demanding that the Mexican government turn around the convoy. However, the troops were not authorized to apprehend or interact with migrants in any way, and instead provided air, reconnaissance and logistical support to Border Patrol officers.
