Meghan explained how quitting social media had been "freeing" as they chatted with surfing community group OneWave on Sydney's Bondi Beach on the fourth day of their royal tour.

Meghan is not one of them.

After a hectic day of engagements that included a meet-and-greet in the Royal Botanic Gardens, a school visit, a tram ride and lunch in a Fitzroy eatery, the popular duo's final stop of the day was South Melbourne beach.

Harry will be accompanied on his bridge climb by competitors from the Invictus Games - the competition for armed forces veterans which he set up.

"I think there is still a lot of stigma around mental health and it's great that Harry and Meghan are addressing that here today", Ms Adams told AAP at the beach.

The Duke and Duchess are believed to have shared their happy news with the Royal Family either ahead of or during Princess Eugenie's wedding on October 12 (there are differing reports).

In a statement, Kensington Palace said Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were all "delighted for the couple".

The duchess and Prince Harry were attending a reception in Victoria's Government House when they were shown the mini-Formula 1 racing demonstration, People reported.

Expectant Meghan donned a summer dress, putting aside her high heels, while Harry ditched his usual suit for chinos as the couple lapped up cheers from Australian fans and enjoyed Bondi's surf.
