What do you think about Wonder Woman 1984′s delay? The film was originally dated on December 13, 2019, but was moved forward to November 1 to avoid being just a single week ahead of Disney-Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: Episode IX", which opens on December 20, 2019.

Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman franchise, starring Gal Gadot in the title role, had been gearing up for its second solo film to feature the fantastic Amazon (the fourth appearance of Gadot in the part), but now director Patty Jenkins will have a few more months to polish it up.

Warner Bros. has pushed the release date for Wonder Woman 1984 to the summer of 2020. "This move lands the film exactly where it belongs".

"Super excited to announce that, thanks to a changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back in its rightful home", Gadot announced. "June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!"

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are now unknown, though the film will follow the titular hero as she comes into conflict with the Soviet Union in the 1980s and encounters a formidable new adversary named Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 will now be released the same month as the sequel to a film made in 1986, as the Top Gun sequel Top Gun: Maverick comes out June 26. Kristen Wiig will play Barbara Minerva, a.k.a. the Cheetah.

The move is the latest shakeup to the Warner Bros./DC Comics universe. The Flash's movie, with Ezra Miller in the starring role, had been rumored for a June 5, 2020 before production was recently delayed. Next up is Aquaman, which surfaces December 21., and then Shazam! on April 5, 2019.
