Essentially, despite its position as a mid-range chipset, what Qualcomm is promising here is that the 675 will be more than enough for even the most demanding mobile games. Xiaomi Global VP and Managing Director Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain made the announcement about a Snapdragon 675-powered smartphone to be launched soon, but failed to mention the exact timeline of the release.

Designed for handsets in the $300 to $500 range, the chipset features a fourth generation Kryo CPU with two performance cores clocked at 2GHz and six efficiency cores at 1.7GHz.it promises 30 percent faster game launches and 20 percent faster music launches. With the Snapdragon 675, Qualcomm is aiming to bring outstanding gaming capabilities to mid-range smartphones. The all-new Snapdragon 600-series chipset is built on Samsungs's 11nm LPP process technology and comes packed with 4th-gen Kryo CPU and Adreno 612 GPU.

At the same event at which it announced the Snapdragon 675, the company also announced a new version of its upcoming mmWave 5G-capable wireless antenna.

The new chipset comes with a number of gaming optimizations, including engines like Unity, Unreal, Messiah, NeoX.

The Snapdragon 675 is aimed at mid-range devices. The new chipset supports a triple camera configuration in the front or back and can support numerous popular camera features of smartphones today, including enhanced portrait mode, 3D face unlock, wide angle, super wide angle, and telephoto up to 5x optical zoom.

On the AI front, features like facial authentication are three times faster thanks to the 675's hardware. The chipset also supports 4K at 30fps video recording and HD at 480fps. The image style transfer feature is interesting as it lets you use stylized filters with real-time previews. Further, it includes X12 LTE modem with 600Mbps download speeds and 3x carrier acceleration, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 with MU-MIMIO, tri-band and Bluetooth 5.0. We haven't seen a lot of momentum around Quick Charge 4 this year, but that should change in the coming months.

Better camera processing is another selling point for the 675.

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform is available now, and will be on consumer devices starting in the first quarter of 2019.
