Raiders' Carr has 'fractured relationship' with teammates

The Oakland Raiders were building their current era around Derek Carr, Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper.

The relationship between the Raiders quarterback and his teammates is "fractured", leading some inside the organization to conclude he's no longer the quarterback of the future, The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II reported Monday, citing team sources.

It was indeed curious, to say the least, to see video of what appeared to be Carr crying in the melting-face way that a kid would cry after falling off his bike. They heard a whimper.

Could Derek Carr be the next Raider on his way out? They assuredly watched it again in film session.

Perhaps the most interesting anecdote as to why has to do with Carr's reaction after being sacked in a 27-2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Carr's tweets Tuesday came in response to an item from ProFootballTalk addressing a report by The Athletic that questioned whether Carr is still considered a leader in the Raiders locker room. "I love the struggle of trying to fight back for our city when not a lot of people believe in us".

I wrote about Carr being broken, both metaphorically and physically, by the end of that game, and looked at how his fortunes have changed since signing a big contract. "For whatever reason, we didn't go there", Gruden said at the time.
