It's worth noting that Cavill's look here aligns far more with the books than the games, where Geralt has multiple facial scars and shoulder-length hair.

We don't usually share this type of stories but I'm pretty sure that a lot of The Witcher fans are looking forward to the Netflix series that will be coming out in 2019.

The Witcher is "an epic tale of fate and family".

Geralt of Rivia has arrived!

Oh lordy, today is shaping up to be a special treat for fans of The Witcher series.

Cavill is set to play Geralt of Rivia, a demon hunter struggling to find his place in a dark and cruel world where the biggest monsters happen to be human.

Production on this one's about to get going in Hungary, so it'll probably be a while before The Witcher actually hits Netflix. Of course, I'm here for all of it, and I can honestly say I've seen few men rock a long, white wig quite like Cavill.

Alongside the video, Netflix also revealed several more cast members for the show, including Twin Peaks' Eamon Farren as Cahir and House of Cards' Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor.

The backlash on Ciri's casting went so far that it prompted showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich to take a hiatus from social media saying that, "The love here is incredible, and the hate is enlightening, like a real-life Trial of the Grasses, except I HAVE to read less and write more - or we won't have a damn finale". Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich will also serve as an executive producer on the series while Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez and Charlotte Brändström are on board as directors for the eight-episode first season.
