The six-week-long Affordable Care Act enrollment season kicked off on Thursday, and this year consumers will find more choices and stabilizing premiums. There will be many new plans available at new prices.

"We're talking about how DE, in particular, could create recommendations to make sure we're protecting everyone to get coverage that they need and not be pushed into plans that really don't give them coverage, except maybe some catastrophic coverage", she said. "When shopping for health insurance coverage, understand enrollment periods, what ACA-compliant plans must cover and where to turn for legitimate information when considering purchasing coverage".

"For Delawareans who don't have access to health insurance through an employer or another form of coverage, the Health Insurance Marketplace offers them an opportunity to get covered", Gov. John Carney said.

For the first time since the launch of ACA plans in 2014, in 2019 consumers will not have to worry about paying a tax if they don't have an ACA compliant health plan. The state has only one provider.

But Castor said signing up for health insurance will be more hard this year because President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have made "massive cuts" to outreach and enrollment programs. According to Ommen, the ACA tax credit subsidy system will produce affordable coverage for many Iowans whose household incomes fall below 400% of the federal poverty level. For 2018, that's between $16,753 and $48,560 for an individual or between $34,638 and $100,400 for a family of four.

The state department of financial services sent a message to insurance providers Thursday, reminding them that some plans that are legal under federal law are not legal in NY.

"From a consumer perspective, the experience should be pretty good", Kelley Turek, a policy specialist at America's Health Insurance Plans, told Axios. Individuals who are already enrolled should check to see if their current plan is still the most affordable or the best suited to their needs. In a silver plan, the insurer pays about 70 percent of medical costs and the consumer pays about 30 percent, up to a maximum annual out-of-pocket cap of $7,350 for an individual and $14,700 for a family. "Here in Florida, local hospitals, community health centers and independent veteran Navigators at the University of South Florida have helped us lead the nation in ACA enrollment in the HealthCare.gov Marketplace", Castor said. Those four providers are offering a total of 33 different plans this year. She also said that the flattening of premiums, and insurers expanding geographic coverage in Georgia, have added stability to the exchanges.

We're told that more than 80% of Mainers that enrolled in Marketplace coverage previous year received financial assistance.

The overall current average monthly premium in DE is $750, with the average premium reduced to $223 per month after tax credit.

Hattemer said all of the financial help that's been available in the previous years is still available.
