It's true. This isn't a mirage in the Dakota Territory hills.

HBO has super-double-officially pulled the trigger on its lonnnng-awaited Deadwood reunion movie, and with that comes the reveal of the full returning cast list. The film will also see the return of all the major cast members, including Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Paula Malcomson, Dayton Callie, and Robin Weigert.

Here's the first-ever description: "The indelible characters of the series are reunited after ten years to celebrate South Dakota's statehood". The film has been gestating for years, with fans hoping to finally get closure on the HBO series of the same name.

As for the late Powers Boothe, who played Cy Tolliver, it was previously reported that "his absence is not ignored".

Showrunner David Milch wanted to show how societies and communities were built, and for three seasons he did so in unequaled fashion, crafting nuanced characters viewers cared for deeply, weaving in little bits of Wild West history (Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, the Earp Brothers) along the way and creating a superb, compelling frontier drama. Rivalries will be reignited and alliances will be tested as the town's residents are forced to deal with the quickly changing times. At one point two movies were declared, then walked back.

Even after confirming that the anticipated Deadwood is actually, for real happening, we still nursed some doubts that the movie would truly come to fruition - at least any time soon.

That makes it all the more surprising that so many of them are willing to return more than a decade after the final episode aired.
