Ronaldinho's bank account frozen despite containing just €6

A judge in Brazil has ordered football icon, Ronaldinho's worldwide passport seized in a bid to ensure he doesn't flee the country after it was gathered that he has just £5 in his bank account despite owing a massive £1.75million.

The former Barcelona and AC Milan ace, 38, was handed an 8.5 million real (US$2.2 million) fine three years ago over claims he and his brother built an illegal construction in a preservation area in their homeland.

Having so far defaulted on the payments and proving hard to track down, the 38-year-old and his brother were taken to court again, and the public prosecutor said that an investigation into their bank accounts revealed a balance of just 24.63 Brazilian Real (£5).

Attempts at remortgaging the property have proven futile for the former Barcelona, PSG and AC Milan star with sky-high interest rates sending his outstanding debts through the roof.

His lifestyle, however, doesn't correspond to the figure found in his accounts, as during the last couple of weeks alone he has travelled to China and Japan for advertising reasons - which has raised suspicions over his current bank balance.

Legit.ng recalls that former Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho was planning to marry two women at the same time, according to reports in Brazil.

Ronaldinho is yet to react to the court order but he is scheduled to take part in The Game of Champions friendly in Frankfurt on November 17.

Ronaldinho officially retired from football earlier this year, having not played professionally since leaving Brazilian side Fluminense in 2015.
