Vince Gilligan's Working On A BREAKING BAD Movie

If you need a distraction from the election, will the news that a Breaking Bad movie is in the works suffice?

Given that Vince Gilligan has been busy with Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul, fans of the original show probably weren't expecting him to be cooking up a movie based on the idea. Luckily, it'll be helmed by series creator, Vince Gilligan, so we can rest easy knowing the project is in good hands.

The Emmy-winning AMC drama Breaking Bad is getting another franchise expansion, with a film that has been quietly been put together for a mid-November through early February shoot in New Mexico.

Gilligan - who, sources say, will pen the script, executive produce and possibly direct the upcoming film - signed a three-year deal with Sony TV back in July, with this project expected to be the first to emerge as part of the terms of the contract. Sadly, there's no word on whether or not original stars, such as Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris or Aaron Paul, will return for the new story.

Basically, all we know right now is that the movie - which has apparently been floating around under the working title (or is it a fake title?) of Greenbrier - is apparently in the works!

Breaking Bad has already spawned the spin-off series Better Call Saul. The logline, reported by the Journal, follows the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom. A prequel series, Better Call Saul, was quickly greenlighted before the initial series concluded, and it was recently renewed for a fifth season set to air in 2019.
