Mass Shooting Reported At Borderline Bar & Grill In Thousand Oaks, California

The Times reports that there were multiple reports of shots fired and people hit.

Police say they are still working to get the scene under control.

Another witness said he was at the front door of the bar when the shooter began firing.

"The gunman was throwing smoke grenades all over the place", a different witness told KABC.

'The gunman had glasses and a black jacket.

Another witness said: "This maniac came in. He's taken many young lives".

Ventura County Sheriff's Deputies responded to reports of an active shooter at Borderline Bar and Grill, located at 99 Rolling Oaks Drive, around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.


Some had to use chairs to break windows inside the bar to escape.

Police have described it as a "mass casualty incident" and helicopters are swirling overhead.

It is thought the gunman may still be at large and at least police officer is injured.

Witnesses told The LA Times someone ran into the bar about 11.30pm, USA time, and started firing what appeared to be a black pistol.

SWAT teams have been pictured trying to surround the restaurant.

"With over 2,500 square feet of wide open dance floor, Borderline has provided a haven for country line dancing folks of all ages equiped with pool tables", the website said.

A college country night was being held at the venue, which is popular for line dancing.
