Discounting recent news, Rogue One offered a promising start to Lucasfilm's planned slate of Star Wars anthology films in 2016.

A release date has not yet been announced for the new series, which is the second Star Wars series Disney has announced, after The Mandalorian from Jon Favreau.

The series, which we first heard word about just a few months ago, will find Tom Hiddleston returning to reprise his role as the god of mischief. Iger also confirmed the service, dubbed Disney+, will come with new live-action shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars franchises. "I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey". The film's original star Diego Luna will topline it as Cassian Andor.

At the present time, it hasn't been revealed who, creatively speaking, will be at the helm of the series. Much like the Rogue One movie attempted and (in my opinion) succeeded!

Jon Favreau is now hard at work on The Mandalorian, but we still don't know who will be running things with this new untitled Cassian Andor series.

Luna addressed returning to the character of Cassian Andor in a statement to the site. Rogue One was quite well-received and grossed a total of $1.05 billion at the box office.

The Disney streaming service is expected to launch in 2019.

Iger sought to differentiate Disney+ plus from Hulu, the streaming service it will gain a controlling 60% stake in with the completion of the Fox deal.

"We feel (that) will enable Hulu to compete more aggressively in the market", Iger said.

All of this is sure to excite fans of Rogue One, but here at Birth.Movies.Death. we're excited for another reason: sending Diego Luna back into the Star Wars universe on a new series of adventures means that we might finally get to see this man achieve his goal of touching Jabba the Hutt.
