A serious injury to Bryant, 30, could lead to the Saints taking a second look at veteran Brandon Marshall, who also worked out for the team this week.

Just two days after signing with the New Orleans Saints, Bryant was helped off the field with what is feared to be a torn Achilles tendon according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Bryant's first practice came on Thursday and he admitted that he used most of that session to knock some of the rust off.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced any details of Bryant's medical exam.

Bryant tweeted Friday afternoon, "Things was just starting to heat up for me". "I won't question the man upstairs.this is the ultimate test Thank you everyone for the prayers".

"It was good", Bryant said after his first practice.

The 30-year-old Bryant likely realized how flawless of an opportunity New Orleans was for him. The surging Saints have won seven straight and last Sunday knocked off the previously unbeaten Los Angeles Rams.

A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Bryant was the 24th pick in the 2010 draft, chalking up 7,459 receiving yards and 73 touchdowns in eight seasons, all with Dallas.

From 2012-14, Dez was a easily a top 5 receiver in the league, an unparalleled red zone weapon and a terrific vertical threat.

In 16 games a year ago for the Dallas Cowboys, Bryant had 69 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns.
