Recount likely in Florida Senate, governor races

In Washington, Trump took Scott's side, telling reporters that the federal government could get involved and adding: "all of the sudden they are finding votes out of nowhere".

"FDLE is working with the Department of State and we will investigate any allegations of criminal activity or fraud", FDLE spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger told TPM. To fail to do this, as the Broward County and Palm Beach County Supervisors had, is to open themselves up to the accusation of massive vote fraud. Trump tweets: "Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach".

Elias said Scott's words are revealing.

With only about 15,000 votes separating U.S. Sen.

Bucher served as an aide to Democratic Florida state Rep. Ed Healey.

The Associated Press has called the governor's race for DeSantis. He also requests Saturday's deadline to canvas ballots be extended until the legal matter is resolved.

Zeckman said Friday that the lawsuit is asking the court "to overrule election officials and accept ballots that were not legally cast".

"This is a feature, not a flaw", Elias said of the ongoing counting of provisional and absentee ballots. Bill Nelson is awaiting results against Republican challenger Gov. Rick Scott, Trump narrowly won the state by less than 1.5 percentage points.

Not only does it seem like this led to confusion, this exact problem was anticipated by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission more than a decade ago.

Election officials in Broward County, the second largest county in Florida, are refusing to confirm how many votes were cast or how many they have less to count.

When the lawyers and political operatives descended on Florida in 2000 the Republicans sought to enforce the law, while the Democrats were focused on obfuscating it.

Snipes violated that law by not turning over the information to attorneys for Scott's Senate bid as well as the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Broward County District Court Judge Carol Lisa Phillips ruled, WESH-TV reported.

"This morning, Bill Nelson is introducing the people of Florida to Marc Elias, a hired gun from Washington, D.C. who will try to win an election for Nelson that Nelson has already lost", the release stated.

The county's election office is swamped with protesters today amid the possibility of a recount if the state's gubernatorial and senate races are too close to call.

Mr Kemp now leads at 50.3% to Abrams' 48.7%, according to AP data, but it could take until next week to tally all the votes.

President Donald Trump weighed in on the controversy on November 9.

Florida's governor's race also looks headed to a mandatory recount, as the votes that have trickled in this week have also pushed the race between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum under the 0.5 percent threshold.

Scott's thin lead over Nelson has narrowed during the vote-counting in the days since he declared victory Tuesday night.

We don't know what tricks the Democrats yet have up their sleeves to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat for their three statewide candidates in the new Florida recounts.

Mr Gillum trails Mr DeSantis now by less than 38,000 votes, which is in recount range if the margin holds. And while most vote-by-mail ballots must be returned by Election Day, ballots cast by active on-duty military and their spouses can arrive until November 16.
