Ireland boss Schmidt caught out by Argentina line-up

Johne Murphy believes it's important for Ireland but certainly not crucial ahead of next year's World Cup in the land of the rising sun.

The spark Ireland needed from the fresh faces earned Sexton shots at goal: One from long-range fell under the crossbar but the next one went over, and Ireland had the lead for good, though not with any confidence until McGrath scored.

"It's been a long time since this group played together so rust was inevitable". Don't get me wrong they've talked about the All Blacks already in November camp when they got together for the U.S. week and they went away and those 10 players stayed around that are going to be largely involved in that All Blacks game.

It almost came off when CJ Stander went over driven on by his fellow forwards but the video referee was unable to discern whether or not he had touched down. A missed conversion from Sexton allowed Sanchez to restore the advantage two minutes later.

"Then as a result next week they're really looking forward to the game but watching it from the stands, that's not where they want to be". The hosts came back again, making merry against the Pumas scrum. Sexton converted for 12-11.

Ahead of the Guinness Series kicking off this weekend, former Irish worldwide rugby player Brian O'Driscoll was on hand to preview Ireland's game against Argentina as a part of Guinness' #AnswerIrelandsCall campaign.

Nicolas Sanchez opened the scoring early on with a fine long-range penalty, something his opposite number Johnny Sexton would turn down throughout the half to offer his superior pack as many drives for the line as possible.

Argentina, with a squad comprised nearly entirely of Jaguares players, began brightly as Sanchez slotted two penalties either side of Marmion's ninth-minute score.

Replacements: 16-Sean Cronin, 17-Jack McGrath, 18-Andrew Porter, 19-Devin Toner, 20-Dan Leavy, 21-Luke McGrath, 22-Joey Carbery, 23-Andrew Conway.

They can undo more of the mystery around Argentina and further erode the aura of invincibility around the All Blacks as two more steps in building towards Japan.
