Feleipe Franks Shushes Gators Fans After TD for Booing Him

On the verge of what appeared to be a potentially season-saving upset of No. 15 Florida - on the Gators' home turf, no less - the University of SC football team allowed a key third down conversion on a freak play with just over eighteen minutes left in the game. "A lot of people are gonna like me and a lot of people are not gonna like me". But Franks promptly led touchdown drives of 79, 85 and 66 yards, punching in another touchdown run to give the Gators a 35-31 lead and finishing it off with another, more triumphant shush.

You can't really blame him, can you? Start with the negatives, because that's how he began.

Jordan Scarlett ran for 159 yards. On the next play, Franks sailed a third-down pass to Josh Hammond that hit a Gamecocks defensive back in the hands.

SC entered the season looking to compete in the SEC Eastern Division after winning nine games a year ago.

It happened to Chris Leak in 2006, when Mullen was a UF assistant, and all Leak did was win a national title that season. But Trask suffered a broken foot in practice during the week and Franks kept his job as the team's starter. Score a touchdown and get off the sidelines so we can coach you.

Franks, eventually, made the most of it.

"Franks completed 15 of 21 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown". But for perhaps the first time under Mullen, he was a willing and capable runner, rushing a career-high 14 times for 50 yards (excluding sacks).

Franks responded after his first TD run. He pounded into defenders.

Fans expressed their displeasure after consecutive plays on the first series in which Franks fumbled and badly overthrew a receiver. "I'm a physical player, and whatever's asked of me to do, I'm going to do it". The Gators quarterback had a bad game last week which probably lead the crowd to boo him at the beginning of the game against the Gamecocks.

Feleipe Franks tied the game in the second quarter.

SC has won three of its last four games, all of them decided by four points or less. The Gators lost to Georgia before losing by three touchdowns to the Tigers. He appeared to yell something along those lines at them, too. Maybe that's something I shouldn't have did. The one time we did pull it on the incomplete I feel like we could have gotten the ball outside and the defender ran in front of Bryan on the sidelines. Both occurrences were after he rushed for touchdowns. After getting stopped just shy of the goal line on third down, Franks took the snap and dove in for the game victor with 4:09 left.

People may think twice before doubting Franks again. "That's how it works".

There weren't any boos this time.
