Tua Tagovailoa exits game after apparent quad injury

As the Crimson Tide notched a 10-win season for the 11th straight year, it proved to be a potential costly win as Tua Tagovailoa had to sit on the sidelines for the final quarter of the game due to injury.

The offense raced to a fast start but mostly stalled from there against the Bulldogs (6-4, 2-4) and the nation's No. 2 scoring defense. He didn't return and wasn't needed, mainly because of a defense that was overshadowed by an offense that had led the nation in scoring much of the season.

Tagovailoa didn't return to the game after this hit.

Alabama had five sacks and Mississippi State had four in a rough day for both quarterbacks against two talent-rich defensive lines. Tagovailoa was 14-of-21 passing for 164 yards, a touchdown and threw his second interception of the season. He also lost 24 yards on offense and fumbled a handoff to Damien Harris. He opted to use Jones in the second half versus Mississippi State, as Hurts was dealing with an ankle injury himself, but did dress for this conference rivalry game. He scored on a 1-yard run and a 14-yard catch.

Franks dived across the goal line on a fourth-down play from inside the 1 with 4:09 to play, putting the Gators ahead for the first time.

Mississippi State redshirt senior QB Nick Fitzgerald completed 17-of-28 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 107 yards in Saturday's 45-3 win over Louisiana Tech.

But just because Alabama has been rolling, doesn't mean the Tide will cover this number against the Bulldogs. Mississippi State could only muster 169 yards.

Franks accounted for three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with a little more than four minutes remaining, and the 19th-ranked Gators rallied to beat SC 35-31 Saturday and end a two-game losing streak. The head coach said he has always supported the NCAA's decision making in terms of player safety but stated, "somebody else should really sort of make a decision about whether there is anything wrong that happened in this game today". "That what makes it a two-way street". Plays like this need to be reviewed from the booth especially during a primetime game. Saban said he could have gone back into the game if necessary. When can he come back?

Excluding those five sacks, Fitzgerald gained 12 yards on nine carries. We can tell you it's leaning under, but it has also generated a strong point-spread pick that hits in more than 65 percent of simulations. "That's a good thing".

The commentators pointed out that the play should be reviewed and Alabama didn't snap the ball until there was 8 seconds left on the play clock.
