You might remember Pascal for playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, his iconic battle with the Mountain surely seared into all of our minds.

The cameras have already been rolling on new live-action Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian, but we're only now learning who will be filling the armour on the show. Variety is reporting that Pedro Pascal is in talks to portray the leading character of the show. He also played DEA agent Javier Peña on three seasons of Narcos, when the Netflix series centered on the cocaine cartels of Colombia. Following that, he has appeared in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Equalizer 2, and is now filming Wonder Woman 1984. Karen Gilchrist is co-executive producing.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Warsuniverse. Sources close to Variety have said negotiations are underway and Pascal has officially been offered the role.

Lucasfilm will bring the series to life on Disney's upcoming streaming service called Disney+.

The first episode of the series will be directed by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

Set after the fall of the Empire, The Mandalorian will follow the rise of the First Order.

In addition to his other duties, Filoni has also been confirmed to direct the first episode with additional episodes being helmed by Deborah Chow (Marvel's Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
