Englishman Lee Westwood reigned supreme at Sun City as he carded a strong closing 64 to win the 2018 Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club on Sunday.

Westwood, who was three shots back, closed with a flawless round - which included an eagle and six birdies - to sign a 8-under 64 to finish on 15-under par.

Westwood is the oldest ever victor of the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the age of 45, beating the record of 41-year-old Nick Price in 1998, and to shoot 64 to win on such a daunting course as the Gary Player Country Club, where danger lurks on every hole, is a magnificent performance. But Westwood's fabulous finish proved irresistible.

"I was three behind after the third round, knew I had to make a fast start and eagled two", Westwood said after becoming the first European to win three Nedbank titles following 2010 and 2011 triumphs. He finished with a 71 that left him one-under for the tournament, two shots ahead of Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry who had contrasting final days.

"A little bit relieved".

"To give yourself those birdie chances is key here and I hit a lot of fairways".

Be part of the action with a selection of unique golf tournament experiences, from playing in a pro-am with the stars to watching the action at golf's most illustrious events.

"But today showed I have still got it mentally, it was a great performance". I made a nice par on one, and a great three wood on the second to about three feet.

"I was seeing the lines and I've been working on a few things with my putting, just trying to relax and have confidence in it", he said. I've got a bit of a process I'm going through with the golf swing. Oosthuizen kept slipping up, with three bogeys and a double-bogey on the last to go with his eight birdies.

Li needed a win to keep his hopes of winning the Race to Dubai alive but results in Sun City mean that it will be either Francesco Molinari or Tommy Fleetwood who will be crowned Europe's Number One after next week's season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
