Miami Marlins adopt new colors, logo for 2019 season

The Miami Marlins unveiled their new logo and color scheme on Thursday in a 90-second video that was shared on Twitter. "The pairing of Miami Blue and Caliente Red pop off of the base color of Midnight Black, energizing the script and giving the logo an electric and vibrant look emblematic of the Miami energy and nightlife".

The Marlins, who had teased a new look for the past month, have changed logos and colors several times since beginning play as an expansion team in 1993. Each day, the team has revealed pictures of its new color palate and pieces of their new uniforms on social media.

The team will officially unveil its new uniforms on Friday morning. The organization will surprise fans, Marlins Members, and partners with new Marlins merchandise. In terms of appearance, the team did away with the orange jerseys for the 2018 season.


With the changes, the franchise further distances itself from the unpopular former owner, Jeffrey Loria.

Earlier this week, the Marlins announced changes to the ballpark, which include a new Center Field Zone in place of the sculpture and a standing room only area.

Influenced by Latin-American typography, the "M" used on the secondary logo and on the "Miami" wordmark features a curved tapered serif font, the Miami wordmark uses the same font style and accent colours as the original Miami Marlins Minor League team and the old Havana Sugar Kings.
