Trump has allegedly questioned Pence's loyalty so many times, his White House staff is growing increasingly alarmed, the New York Times reports.

"Mike Pence is 100 percent [loyal]", the president said.

Some Trump advisers, primarily outside the White House, have suggested to him that while Mr. Pence remains loyal, he may have used up his utility. "Not even a doubt about it in my mind". He's been a trooper. "I could not be happier".

After President Trump denied questioning the loyalty of Vice President Mike Pence, Sean Spicer praised Pence's effectiveness on Fox & Friends.

The President has not publicly suggested he is considering replacing Pence either before or for a 2020 re-election bid. However, the article does include a comment from the White House.

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley brushed off the rumours, saying that Trump "absolutely supports the vice president".

"No I don't question his loyalty at all", Trump told reporters Saturday morning, according to a pool report.

Trump's remarks come after a press conference last week at the White House in which he was asked about the 2020 ticket, and he asked Pence to be his running mate on the spot.

Despite Trump's questions about Pence, he has not indicated he would look for a new running mate for 2020.

"Will you? Thank you".

"It's quite likely that the president has been reflecting on who's loyal, who's not loyal. and he's starting to be paranoid in a way that's nearly feral", Pulitzer Prize winning biographer Michael D'Antonio said during a CNN interview on Friday. "That was unexpected, but I feel very fine".
