The company recently introduced the "Your Activity" dashboard to tackle the users spending more and more time on their app.

"Some users temporarily had trouble using Instagram on Android earlier", the company said in a statement by email to Gizmodo on Saturday.

At least one user reported that logging on led to a blank white screen.

Instagram advised users who are still experiencing problems to clear their cache or reinstall the app.

The glitch is the second for Instagram this week.

Facebook notified affected Instagram users that when they utilized the feature, it sent their password in plaintext in the URL.

Instagram has come forward to users informing them that as a result of a security flaw their passwords could have been exposed.

The tool has since been updated so the problem should no longer occur, and Instagram is deleting any logged passwords.

The emails told users of the "Download Your Data" tool they may have had their passwords included in the website's URL.

In a statement to The Information, a spokesperson said the issue only impacted a "small number of people" although if those people were using a shared computer, or on a compromised network then it could've left their account info wide open.
