"He was, at the time, at the pinnacle of his career, while I was in my first job out of college".

'In order to cooperate and avoid charges and I would have to make monitored phone calls which they would listen in to and record and I might have to wear a wire and go see people in person, ' reveals Lewinsky in a preview for the upcoming A&E docuseries The Clinton Affair.

"As it so often does, power throws a protective cape around the shoulders of the man, and he dictates the spin by denigrating the less powerful woman", she wrote in a recent Vanity Fair article explaining why she participated.

She noted Clinton's answer in another interview where he was asked why he entered into an inappropriate relationship with an intern and answered: "Because I could". In it, she divulges intimate details of the courtship.

A source told The New York Post it has been her main source of income.

'His reason: 'Because I could.' (And, yes, that's a direct quote),' she wrote this week referring to Clinton's 2004 interview with Dan Rather. "Finally, Monica made a face like a snarling dog and growled, 'Arrr!' Then she covered her face with her hands and didn't speak for 10 minutes".

The six-part documentary reveals that private meetings between her and Clinton were arranged so as not to arouse suspicion. The next year, she went viral with a TED talk on "The Price of Shame". "I thought maybe he'd notice me again and notice me he did".

The Post reports how when her editor Friend told Clinton supporter George Soros' son Robert Soros, he was taking Lewinsky to their Manhattan benefit in 2014, she was surprisingly more than welcome.

Recalling their early flirtations together, Lewinsky says at the time, "there was really no sense of anything beyond 'I have this crush and this person I have a crush on is actually paying attention to me'".

"Bill gave me this box which had a hat pin and he said, 'Because you know, you always look so cute in hats, '" remembers Lewinsky.

The narrative includes embracing a more visible life in Manhattan, where Lewinsky hobnobs with friends, including Alan Cumming. To keep his attention, she said she wore the same outfit two days in a row.

In teasers, released this week, Lewinsky claimed she didn't get it until the first time she was in his presence. "He would be a better man for it", Lewinsky wrote.

"Going out there into the world isn't that easy to her", added the source of Lewinsky. "She's very remorseful. There are no heroes in this story".

"She wanted to be part of something that was looking back on these 20 years", she said.
