Pressure mounts on Spain's De Gea as Kepa waits in the wings

Manchester United will target Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford if David De Gea leaves Old Trafford, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has kept just three clean sheets in all competitions this season for United and produced a handful of errors in Spain's 3-2 UEFA Nations League defeat to Croatia, casting doubt over their hopes of qualification for the finals of the competition.

The Manchester United man is struggling to find form on the worldwide stage, saving less than half of the shots he has faced since the start of La Roja's disappointing World Cup campaign. Behind the Spain legend in the voting was Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who received 39,657 votes (39.54%) after an impressive start in the Premier League, followed by Pau López, now Spain's number 3 under Luis Enrique, with 5,141 votes (5.14%).

"What is not curious but is unusual is what all the criticism means".

The Spain coach was asked thrice about the Man United keeper's performances but he says the criticism is unfair.

"When it's aimed at one person it's unfair because this is a team sport".

AS reports that Enrique has told De Gea he no longer has his unwavering support.

Paper Round's view: De Jong is one of the most promising young players in Europe, and should he establish himself quickly in the Premier League then perhaps he could hold down a place for the next decade at the Etihad. I analyse things in a general sense and from there I make decisions.

The other goalkeeping option in the current Spain squad is Real Betis' Pau Lopez.
