Here Are Amazon's Cheap Black Friday Video Game Deals

The vast majority of Black Friday "deals" at retailers including Amazon, Curry's PC World and John Lewis are actually cheaper or the same price at other times of the year, a damning investigation has found.

More than a third of Britons are expected to make a purchase in a Black Friday promotion this week.

But nine out of ten Black Friday deals do not offer the savings claimed, it is revealed.

The consumer group tracked prices of 94 popular products, including TVs, cameras and fitness trackers, that were on offer over Black Friday 2017, from six months before until six months afterwards.

Almost nine out of 10 (87 per cent) of products on offer at some of the nation's largest retailers on Black Friday in 2017 were either less expensive or cost the same at other points in the year, consumer body Which? has revealed.

'To bag a bargain, do your research and don't get carried away by the hype when shopping in the upcoming sales'. It was also cheaper by £10 or more at least 43 times in the six months following Black Friday (including 33 days in December and January).

Weirdly, though, they didn't look at an equal selection of deals across those retailers: it was 59 deals at Currys PC World, 18 at Amazon, 14 at John Lewis and just three from Argos.

We're still a few days out from Black Friday, but the deals are already flowing.

Currys PC World customers were told they could save £10 on a Sony compact camera advertised as £189 on Black Friday.

Black Friday, a day of pre-Christmas discounting borrowed from the USA, is officially on 23 November, but several major retailers including Amazon, Argos and Currys PC World have already begun their sales campaigns.

Amazon said its Black Friday deals represented "millions of pounds of savings" for customers. As with the $199 PS4 Black Friday bundle, we think Walmart is the best retailer to go with simply because it offers free 2-day shipping whereas other retailers require an upcharge for this expedited service.

An Argos spokesperson said: "During Black Friday our customers benefit from a huge range of deals on a wide range of products, all at the same time". And there is KRCS in the United Kingdom that is heavily discounting the all-new Mac Mini, new MacBook Air and many other Mac products across its site.

Currys PC World insisted it offers great value on products throughout the year and clearly states when a product was available for a higher price. "While our prices - like all retailers" - can fluctuate throughout the year, we're proud to offer our Price Promise across our entire range - and this covers the Black Friday trading period'.

A John Lewis spokesman said its Never Knowingly Undersold pledge means it cuts prices to match competitors.
