After taking over the development of the game from Telltale Games, the creators of narrative-driven games based on popular brands like Game of Thrones, the Borderlands series, and The Walking Dead, Skybound announced on Monday that it's returned to work on the series that was jeopardized by Telltale Games' turmoil. The studio picked up the licence to continue production of the episodic series after the closure of Telltale Games was announced. The company also said previous Walking Dead seasons may vanish from storefronts "for a few days" due to the transition from Telltale to Skybound, though everything should be back to normal "ASAP".

"Thank you for your patience while we worked with Telltale to take control of TELLTALE'S THE WALKING DEAD", wrote the Skybound Team. With the help of those new team members, development of Episodes 3 and 4 began again at Skybound yesterday, and the release dates for those two episodes will be announced "soon".

The letter goes on to explain that production had to stop on the final two episodes during the legal process, but the team, consisting of numerous game's original developers, have picked up where they left off. The future episodes will be available from the same place you bought them the last time.

It finally seems that plans to finish Telltale's final project are full steam ahead. The news comes after recent sightings of old Telltale games disappearing from Steam and other platforms as a result of reported asset liquidation.

The news only got better as it was revealed a release date announcement for the remaining two episodes is on the way and the confirmation that users who already purchased season four won't have to pay again for it.
