"If you really look at the facts, from a really open point of view, there are a lot of elements to be considered", the governor said, after accompanying Trump on his visit. And they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things.

"Raking is not normally included in the Finnish forest management's tool range", a translation of the Ilta-Sanomat article says.

"If preventing wildfires were as easy as raking leaves, we would have done that by now, but it is a very complicated issue".

"Here I am just #raking around as all us #finns do to prevent forest fires", one Twitter user, Lida Korhonen wrote, sharing a gif of a group of people raking leaves.

Many people tweeted the hashtags #RakeAmericaGreatAgain and #RakeNews to troll Mr. Trump's campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" and his frequently used phrase "Fake News". "They were raking areas!"

"And besides, 80 per cent of the country is classified as forest land".

Trump had earlier told workers to get a move on and learn from their mistakes. "And it's going to work out, it's going to work out well".

Just when you think he's said or done the single dumbest thing in the history of the American presidency, he comes over the top with something even more mind-bogglingly stupid, nearly like he's going for the high score.

"And yeah, managing that pine litter adjacent to our homes and buildings is super important ... but the reality is, to manage every little bit of fuel with a rake is not practical."

Ever since the seriousness of the California blaze first became clear, Mr Trump has spoken repeatedly about forest management and fires.

He walked side by side with Paradise Mayor Jody Jones and surveyed the devastation of the once lively-town in person.

He added: "You've got to take care of the floors".

California has 33 million acres of forest, according to a University of California web page. Trump promised federal funds and says he has some ideas.

"I was with the President of Finland and he said we have - much different - we are a forest nation". Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!' Trump vowed on Twitter.

"This is very sad", Trump said after surveying the remains of Paradise.

Some returned to a command center in the Northern California city of Chico on Friday after 24-hour shifts. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests.
