The move was formally announced this week as the PGA of America will also invest in the over $500 million project that includes a hotel, retail space and two golf courses. "Not only will this signature development change the future of Frisco's northern landscape, it will transform the sport, growing a new generation of pros, fans and golf enthusiasts". Omni Stillwater Woods will spend $455 million to buy the land and build the hotel, conference center, retail space, parking and the golf courses. The golf courses, clubhouse, practice areas and associated public facilities will be owned by the city. The lease will increase two percent after the fifth year of the development agreement.

The 2027 and 2034 PGA Championships will be played at a to-be-built course in Frisco, which will also become the new home of the PGA of America.

"The mission of the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship Advisory Council is to align PGA staff, with college coaches, athletic administration and related golf and business leaders to establish a collaborative environment created to share expert perspectives and drive strategic planning that can enhance our overall program, while consistently shaping the narrative of the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship and PGA WORKS Career Expo moving forward", said Scooter Clark, Championship Manager, PGA Minority Collegiate Championship. Omni Hotels & Resorts will own and operate the resort.

The two courses in Frisco are expected to open in 2022. The hotel, convention center, and other facilities are expected to open within six months of that date.

The 2027 PGA Championship will be the first time North Texas has held a men's major event since the 1963 PGA Championship that Jack Nicklaus won at Dallas Athletic Club.

As outlined in the initial reports, the new headquarters will have two championship courses.

To elevate educational opportunities for students in majors related to sports entertainment management, UNT and the PGA of America signed a memorandum of understanding on education, research and branding plans for both parties on Wednesday.

A key component of the event is the PGA WORKS Career Expo, where student-athletes are exposed to internships and employment opportunities, as well as networking and career development sessions supported and attended by leading golf companies.
