The exhibition will feature three-minute rounds, take place at 67kg (147 pounds), feature "straight boxing rules" and eight-ounce boxing gloves. Regardless of the outcome, the fight will not count on either man's record.

There won't be an official victor or loser of the fight if it goes the distance with there being no judges, but it's sure to bring in some glitz to the Rizin 14 card.

After initially calling off the fight, it was reversed and confirm to take place as an exhibition on New Years Eve 2018.

At that time, Mayweather described the match to TMZ Sports as "a little boxing exhibition" with no kicking involved.

"It is all about the entertainment", Mayweather said. "I'm the A-side always".

"There has never been a Japanese fighter to face Floyd Mayweather in the ring".

"I'm gonna say this once again: everything is always on my terms". He may be a kickboxer, but he got to abide by my rules, simple and plain. "And if he raises his feet, it's in the contract, I get some more money".

Thursday's press event came nearly a month after 41-year-old retired welterweight champ Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) announced he had scrapped plans to stage a fight with Nasukawa, indicating he had been duped into agreeing to a contest.

The show will go down on December 31, 2018, under boxing rules.

"As far as the weight class and the rules, we'll get that situated in the next few weeks", Mayweather said on November 4.

Mayweather had pulled out of the match-up after claiming that he'd been misled but he is back on for the meeting with Nasukawa, an undefeated kickboxer.

"Now that I am back on US soil after a long and disappointing trip to Tokyo, I now have the time to address you, my fans and the media in regards to the upcoming event on December 31st that was recently announced".

Rizin officials and the fighters were light on details of the fight, however, and two days later, after Mayweather returned to the United States, he wrote on social media that he had never agreed to the bout - even though he participated in the news conference and spoke about the event at length. In fact (with all due respect) I have never heard of him until this recent trip to Japan. "It's an exhibition match, but it's giving me a chance to do something different". And Mayweather's theatrics appear to have been just that - theatrics. The officials also did not announce an American broadcaster.
