Instead of having to deal with costly monthly bills and a confusing matrix of programming tiers from cable providers, streaming services provide us with a much simpler and affordable alternative.

IMDb Freedive will feature Amazon's X-Ray technology, which allows viewers to dive deeper into the movies or shows by accessing IMDb-powered additional information, such as cast, crew, trivia, and soundtracks.

Freedive takes IMDb beyond its offering of short-form original series, trailers and celebrity interviews and puts it in the mix agaist streaming giants such as Netflix, Hulu and the parent company's Amazon Prime Video.

IMDb Freedive offers a collection of TV shows and movies on IMDb's website or through Amazon Fire TV devices without having to purchase a subscription, said IMDb, a unit of Amazon since 1998, according to the Wall Street Journal. There are over 130 movies available to watch, and 29 different TV shows to chose from. Freedive's movie collection includes titles like Memento, Drive, Foxcatcher, Run Lola Run, and others.

Add another player to the growing field of streaming services.

IMDb Freedive is available beginning today at, on IMDb's website via laptop or personal computer and on Fire TV devices. Freedive represents a bigger push to monetize video content with full-length movies and hit TV shows.

"Customers already rely on IMDb to discover movies and TV shows and decide what to watch", Col Needham, founder and CEO of IMDb, said in a statement.
