Prominent actor and the former lead actor of Seven's Doctor Blake Mysteries, Craig McLachlan, has been charged by Victoria Police for a number of indecent assault offences, the ABC is reporting.

Actor Craig McLachlan will face court next month on 10 criminal charges, including indecent assault.

McLachlan faced allegations of misconduct by fellow cast members while starring in the Rocky Horror Show in 2014.

McLachlan has strenuously denied all of the allegations against him and previously launched his own legal suit against his accusers.

McLachlan became known to TV audiences on the Young Doctors.

McLachlan won the Gold Logie in 1990 as the most popular personality on Australian television.

One of Australia's leading musical performers, Christie Whelan Browne, who performed the lead role of Janet during the 2014 Rocky Horror tour, has told police that McLachlan indecently assaulted her during the show.

The Gold Logie winning actor was charged on summons by detectives from Melbourne's Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on February 8.
