DeMarcus Cousins and Golden State Set Date for Warriors Debut

And it's not fair to expect DeMarcus Cousins to come in and save the day for the Warriors. Initially, he was expected to return to action after their Christmas Day game against the Los Angeles Lakers, but it did not work out as he had not sufficiently recovered. This news comes less than an hour after head coach Steve Kerr announced that they would be "incorporating DeMarcus at some point" in the team's next 20 games. "It's all been pretty exciting".

"All I can tell you is (his return) is closer now", Kerr told reporters, via ESPN.

Kerr said earlier this week he has been impressed by Cousins' recent workouts.

Cousins, of course, has spent the past eleven months rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in a late January game last season for the New Orleans Pelicans against the Houston Rockets.

Tyson Chandler said he initially considered signing with the Golden State Warriors after getting bought out by the Phoenix Suns.

"The target range for DeMarcus Cousins' debut with the Warriors is the team's upcoming trip to Los Angeles, nytsports has learned". The team plays against the Clippers on January 18 and the Lakers on January 21. There, a healthy Cousins can alleviate pressure on Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant offensively, and give the Warriors a true big, allowing Draymond to roam from the post to perimeter defensively. "And it's not easy for anybody coming off an Achilles' injury, much less a center that carries a lot of weight and size".

The Warriors are now 26-14 on the season and sit second in the NBA's Western Conference.
