Joe Gomez (broken leg) and Joel Matip (fractured collarbone) remain in rehabilitation and England worldwide Tarkowski, 26, has been mentioned as a possible solution to the crisis.

The Croatia worldwide has now joined England star Joe Gomez along with Joel Matip on the sidelines.

Hoever replaced the injured Lovren against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup on Monday and basically played the whole game.

Amidst such defensive crisis, Klopp has asked the board for a short term fix with a loan deal of Tarkowski.

But the Turf-Moor outfit have insisted on a permanent deal for the defender, slapping a hefty £50million price-tag on the England worldwide.

"I'm not suggesting it's rubbish, I'm suggesting it's a new one on me", Dyche said of the Tarkowski rumours ahead of Saturday's game against Fulham in the Premier League.

"Tarky has certainly had that many times and I think he's going about business very well at the moment". That is just freakish. Today, Liverpool are linked with James Tarkowski...

Tarkowski has continued to be a regular for Burnley this season but they've struggled to replicate the form they showed past year and it seems Liverpool were hoping to lure him to Anfield on a cheeky loan deal.

Burnley have struggled to replicate that form so far this campaign, but Tarkowski's stock remains high, while only strikers Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes (4) have more top-flight goals in 2018/19 than the defender (3), who has been capped twice by England.

Now looking at the asking price and Burnley manager Sean Dyche's comments it looks the Reds will face tough time acquiring the defender and might have to break the bank again to hold any chance of landing him.
