Lil Uzi Vert has claimed he has quite music, and fans don't know what to think.

The 24-year-old rapper surprised fans on Friday when he announced via Instagram Stories that he's stepping away from music. "I wanna wake up in 2013".

The announcement comes as Uzi was readying his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Eternal Atake, which was expected to be released this year.

He added, "Thank you love you" and "You are free".

Uzi also revealed he was "trying to figure out" how to get out of his record deal on the recent song "Shells" with Shabazz PBG. With the support of Atlantic, Uzi rose to fame with his "Luv is Rage" mixtape and subsequent "Lil Uzi Vert vs".

In August 2017, Uzi released his debut album Luv Is Rage 2, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the 6x platinum hit "XO TOUR Llif3". However, it looks like worse news has come from the world of Lil Uzi Vert.

We can only hope that Lil Uzi's "retirement" is similar to that of Jay Z and Justin Bieber. The rapper announced his departure from the rap game earlier today.

And in 2013, the Biebs said he was quitting music - before returning in 2015 with all-time banger Sorry.
