Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery played through his team's 20-14 loss to the Saints on Sunday in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game with broken ribs, teammate Lane Johnson told reporters.

Philly had a 2nd-and-10 at the Saints 27 and was in good position to potentially take the lead late in the contest.

"Gotta respect Nick Foles for consoling Alshon after the ball slipped through Jeffery's hands", CBS Sports tweeted.

All of the Saints de-activated for the game were healthy reserves: tight end Dan Arnold, running back Dwayne Washington, linebacker Manti Te'o, offensive lineman Will Clapp, defensive end Trey Hendrickson, offensive lineman Derek Newton and receiver Austin Carr.

FOX's replays showed Foles speaking to Jeffery on the sideline.

Jeffery missed a crucial catch that could have prolonged a Philadelphia comeback. He had 65 catches for 843 yards and 6 touchdowns during the regular season.

While the Los Angeles Rams have already advanced to the NFC Championship, the New Orleans Saints are the favorites to reach the Super Bowl in Atlanta.
