Luckily, the wait is nearly over since we now know the premiere date of the eighth and final season!

It's safe to say that the final season of Game of Thrones has a lot to deliver and not a lot of time to do it, so let the countdown to the premiere begin!

HBO kicked off the year with calculated Game of Thrones hype, starting with a four-second clip snuck into an ad during the Golden Globes.

Jon and Arya haven't seen each other since series 1, when they had quite a strong brother-sister relationship, so the reunion will no doubt delight fans no end.

There's also a new teaser, set within the tombs at Winterfell.

In passing by the graves of fallen family members Ned, Catelyn, and Lyanna, they ultimately find their own, before the light disappears and a chill creeps into the catacombs. Before the premiere of the new season of True Detective, HBO aired a brief video showing three of the four remaining Starks, which the series has followed, then revealing the April 14 premiere date for Season 8. There is plenty to speculate on, but what we do know for certain is that Season 8 will consist of a mere 6 episodes, however, they will all be extended in length.

The final season of Game of Thrones will be six episodes long - all feature-length - and all fans knew was that it would hit in April.
