Sturridge missed Brighton win with virus

Former Scottish striker Andy Gray is anxious that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah will earn a reputation for diving after winning a penalty against Brighton that led the Reds to claim a 1-0 victory.

Their breakthrough came via a mazy run from Mohamed Salah who, after being brought down by Pascal Gross, picked himself up and converted the match-winning penalty.

Rio Ferdinand hit the headlines for his controversial comments about Newcastle United on Saturday evening but lost amongst it all was his suggestion to Jurgen Klopp as to how Liverpool can win the Premier League.

"I've not seen this Brighton one back but it's a no-brainer really for the referee".

Momentum and confidence were certainly the topics of the day as Liverpool did very well to hold onto their 1-0 lead, earned through Mo Salah's penalty.

Liverpool produced a clinical if unimpressive performance on the south coast, having lost 2-1 at City in their previous league outing before being beaten by Wolves in the FA Cup third round by the same scoreline.

"They defended like they defended because they knew one mistake from us and they're back in the game". I wouldn't say it went wrong at the Etihad but it was our first defeat and it was good to follow that up with a win.

"It was our best game in the Premier League so far, and hopefully we will continue at the same level as of now".

"And then on Saturday we did the exact same".

"When I was fortunate enough to be in a changing room with Sir Alex Ferguson, in times of need when the pressure is on, someone was chasing or when Liverpool or Chelsea were just ahead of us, he would find something we could hook into".

Robertson also revealed he will be kept on his toes just as much at home as at the club, with a new arrival in his family.

"It's a great thing welcoming another child into our lives and it's a big thing for us".
