The publication notes that the identity theft was undertaken by one of Kanye's former friends and an associate of G.O.O.D.

The superstar was the victim of MASSIVE forgery this week when a man who apparently knew him pretended to be the rapper to negotiate a major (fake) performance contract for New York Fashion Week. However, Kanye had absolutely no idea about the show, as his wife Kim Kardashian West made publicly clear via Twitter (seen above). He reportedly began negotiations with the designer and asked $900,000 for Yeezy's performance at the event - which was never going to happen.

A rep for Plein issued a statement saying, "We regret to confirm that Kanye West will not be performing at our fashion show this Monday..." As of press time, neither Philipp Plein nor Kanye West have commented on the situation.

The gossip site also obtained a picture of the contract with Kanye's forged signature on it and with that of Plein.

The Blast also reports that an additional $150,000 was wired to Burundi Partlow Consulting, which is a Chicago-based company. TMZ noted the designer fell for the bit, which led them to sign a contract where the man reportedly forged West's signature. We have recently been in contact with Kanye's official team and are releasing this statement in unison to clarify that there has not been any misconduct on any of our parts.

Others, in turn couldn't resist taking advantage of the situation: one user poked fun at the bad blood between Kanye and Canadian rapper Drake.
