A brace from Paul Pogba and stunning solo goal from Anthony Martial secured the points for the Red Devils, moving them into the top four at the expense of Chelsea, who face Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.

Their best chance was in the opening minute when Andre Schuerrle broke forward and floated the ball across the area and down into the path of Luciano Vietto.

Paul Pogba produced another superb display as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it 11 games unbeaten since become Manchester United manager with a 3-0 win at Fulham. They took the lead with a superbly constructed goal that exposed the Premier League's leakiest defence in the 14th minute.

Martial, another United star who felt slighted by Mourinho's acerbic tongue, is back to his best and his 11th goal of the season was the ideal way to celebrate signing a new five contract recently.

Craven Cottage, normally such a genteel place to watch a game of football, was an angry place with fans aiming chants of "You don't know what you're doing" at a manager who appears to have run out of ideas after three months in the job.

Romelu Lukaku's pass found Juan Mata just inside the area and Le Marchand responded with a panicked shove, conceding a penalty that Pogba converted in typically nonchalant style.

Manchester United eased past Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with a clinical first half leading the Red Devils to victory.

Fulham vs Man Utd start time: When does the game kick-off?

While Solskjaer's men will be feeling buoyed ahead of a daunting run of games, Ranieri's side will sense the pressure building. From there it was game over for Fulham, who remain firmly rooted in the relegation zone.

And Solskjaer agreed the defeat of Claudio Ranieri's side was the ideal warm-up, telling reporters: "I would have to say so because it's a tough place to come and we gave them the first 10 minutes, maybe played into their hands, some counter-attacks, they put the ball into the box a few times but then, after we scored the first goal, we played a fantastic last 80 minutes".

He was also keen to emphasise that United's revived fortunes since he took over in December from Jose Mourinho were about the whole club's work and not just his own influence.

- Pogba has reached double figures for goals for the first time ever in a single league campaign (11).

"His attacking play, when he arrives in the box, there is always going to be a chance of scoring a goal, an assist or a goal".
