Mavs traded Barnes while he played

Dallas forward Harrison Barnes was visibly distraught after he was shockingly traded away to Sacramento while still on court for the Mavericks on Thursday. There are no picks involved in the trade.

However, his trade isn't all doom and gloom as he heads to the Kings who sit ninth in the Western Conference and look a real prospect of breaking a 12-year playoff drought.

While the trade was only officially announced after the game, news of it broke early in the first quarter when Barnes' agent, Jeff Schwartz, told ESPN's Paul Pierce the Mavericks were working on a move. Porzingis won't play this season as he continues to recover from a knee injury sustained last February. He's just a genuinely good dude and he's obviously got bonds with some of these players here for life. He was a frequent Dallas foe during his eight seasons with Memphis.

The seventh overall pick of the 2012 draft, Barnes led the Mavericks in scoring over the last two seasons and is averaging 17.7 points this season. Marvin Williams, Nicolas Batum, Bismack Biyombo and Jeremy Lamb combined for 36 points on 14-of-37 shooting.

Dorian Finney-Smith recorded his second career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell each had 11. All of Doncic's triple-doubles have come in the past seven games. As part of the Sacramento trade, Dallas waived C Salah Mejri. In return, the Mavericks received Justin Jackson and Zach Randolph.

"With this trade now, a lot of things are in play", Carlisle said. "I have to let the dust settle and figure out who the hell is going to start". Jackson was active for Friday night's game against Milwaukee.
