Aaron Ramsey will become Britain's highest-paid player of all-time after signing a staggering £400,000-a-week-plus pre-contract deal at Juventus.

Juventus are considered to be experts at exploiting the free transfer market, and have signed the likes of Dani Alves, Emre Can, Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba on pre-contract deals in recent years.

Wages were not disclosed, but Goal understands Ramsey will earn €7 million (£6m/$8m) plus bonuses per year.

The BBC also claim that Ramsey completed a two-part medical with Juventus in January. "I wanted to issue a personal statement for all the Arsenal fans who have been extremely loyal and supportive". You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me through all the highs and lows I have encountered during my time at the club.

Ramsey failed to agree terms on a new deal with the Gunners before his contract ran into its last six months, which allowed the midfielder to speak to clubs who expressed interest in signing the 28-year-old.

In a post on social media, Ramsey said his decision to end his 11-year stay at Arsenal was made with a "heavy heart".

"I will continue to give the team 100 per cent and hope to finish the season strongly, before heading on to my next chapter in Turin".

Juve have been seen as the favourites for some time, with Ramsey keen to sample football in a new league.
