"I want to begin [.] by saying how honoured I am to be nominated alongside so many incredible female artists this year", Dua Lipa said, adding "I guess this year we really stepped up".

It's been a long road for Dua Lipa, but on Sunday night, she was awarded the coveted Best New Artist award at the Grammys. The singer thanked her fans who "have allowed me to be the best..."

It's been a huge couple of years for the emerging British singer.

Lipa's breakthrough came in 2016 with her first global hit Hotter Than Hell, which she followed up with Blow Your Mind (Mwah), which cracked the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart. She also received a Grammy nomination this year for Best Dance Recording for her single "Electricity" with Silk City.

St. Vincent won for Best Rock Song for her album's title track "Masseducation", and Dua Lipa for Best New Artist.
