"This could be the year for the real thing", Cyrus wrote, quoting lyrics from Parton's 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers, "Islands in the Stream", implying that she and Mendes may be recreating the iconic tune for the tribute.

Dolly also said her definition of love has changed over the years and insisted it's grown deeper as time has gone by. Pictured: The singer attending MusiCares Person of the Year at Los Angeles Convention Center on February 8, 2019.

Little Big Town will serve as the official hosts of the 2019 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute set to honor country icon Dolly Parton.

Parton has won eight Grammys out of 47 nominations during her career and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. "We want to be like you when we grow up". "We may not have sex, drugs and rock "n" roll, but two out of three ain't bad".

In her acceptance speech, she said: "I have worked with so many wonderful men".

To gasps and laughs, Parton then described her feelings at seeing the likes of Willie Nelson, Katy Perry, Mavis Staples and Garth Brooks perform her songs at Friday's gala. For Parton, being apart from time to time does both parties good in the long run because this gives spouses something to look forward to when they reunite.

Parton has sold more than 100 million records and helped popularize country music outside the United States, often succeeding in crossing over into pop music.

Parton is this year's MusiCares Person of the Year, an honor handed out by the Recording Academy as part of the Grammy week celebrations to celebrate a music legend's dedication to philanthropy and their careers.

Her own charity work owes much to her admiration for her father, who labored in tobacco fields and construction sites and could not read.

Friday's gala raised 6.7 million US dollars for MusiCares, Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow told the audience.

The annual gala takes place before the Grammy Awards.
