Billy By's father opened a new shop, Billy's Donuts, in the Texas town over the weekend.

The owners had named the store after their son, Billy By, and they were excited to start slinging pastries.

Too often in recent years Twitter has become a wild west of hot takes and takedowns but one tweet added a saccharine-sweet moment to the social media platform, in the form of delicious donuts. The tweet quickly spread across Twitter after being retweeted hundreds of thousands of times.

When Twitter user Billy By posted about his father being sad because of the low turnout for his doughnut shop's grand opening, the internet answered with roaring support.

On March 11, Billy tweeted a photo of him with his dad, now all smiles.

"Just wanted to update y'all!"

The next day, Billy's Donuts had lines out the door and sold out of doughnuts completely. "You are all fantastic". I can't thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting local businesses.

Shortly, Billy also posted their store's exact address with its operating hours. "This means so much to my family".

Then, on Monday, the doughnut store was sold out again after representatives from Twitter stopped by to pick up the tab for the morning's customers.

Twitter made good on their word, and sent over a team of employees to visit the Texas shop, even reportedly paying for some of the delectables for other customers.
