Apple is in talks with HBO, Showtime, and Starz, and all three are expected to join Apple's service eventually.

Buzzfeed reported that during the event, Apple would also launch premium news subscription services.

According to Panzarino's tweet, the email invitation, which says simply 'It's show time, ' played a short film reel countdown animation, which suggests the event will be used to announce Apple's much-anticipated video streaming service. However, thanks to the short video invite sent by Apple, we have some idea of what Apple might be introducing.

Apple will host a press event later this month, with its video streaming service expected to be the star of the show. In addition to a video service, there have been rumors that the company will use the event to announce a magazine service that will expand on its existing Apple News product. The shows are expected to cover a variety of genres that include drama, documentary, comedy, kids program, etc. Apple has been closely working with former Sony Pictures executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht for the shows that are expected to be released during late 2019.

A report by The Wall Street Journal had indicated that Apple was going through a rough patch with respect to negotiations as it was reported to demand 50 percent revenue from the service.

Apple has been snapping up talent all over the place to build its rival to Netflix and Hulu, including the likes of Reese Witherspoon, M Night Shyamalan, Oprah Winfrey and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. The lower-end, $329 iPad hasn't had a refresh since last March. Apple has also refreshed its lineup previously during its events held in spring.
