Gmail, Google Drive down in apparent global outage

According to Down Detector website, Gmail and YouTube started facing issues around 7.30am today.

A spokeswoman for Google said it was aware of the problem and people should visit the Google status dashboard for details.

Many users in Australia, the US, Europe and Asia reported outages with Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Drive, The Guardian reported.

"Woohoo - loving not being able to access any of my files", one man tweeted.


Outage Report has taken almost 500 reports of email sending issues, emails being down and email reading issues in the past 20 minutes alone. The company posted the update on the page that offers performance information for Google services.

If you've been having issues with Gmaail or Google Drive this afternoon, you're not alone. It's an internal outage affecting Gmail users everywhere.

On Twitter, many voiced their frustration at being unable to check and send emails. So far, more than 600 reports have been lodged in the past 20 minutes.

Google Maps also appeared to be experiencing issues, with users who tried to use Street View mode seeing a black screen, instead of images of the location.
