After a goalless first leg, Liverpool made the trip to Germany to face the reigning Bundesliga title-holders and five-time European champions, genuine heavyweights in this competition.

"It's never easy, they're going to have spells on top".

"It's a big, big step for us".

"It is a sign that everything is not right with us".

"We all thing that's where this club belongs and tonight we proved it at least a little bit".

"It is not about playing free-flowing football because that is not possible against a side of this quality, you have to find different ways and we found them". There were not too many hard situations in and around our box and that is a massive sign. Playing your best football, free-flowing, is not possible against this team because you can not use your speed really.

"A lot of teams struggle here to get a result, but we still did it".

"In the first half we scored an outstanding goal - wow - and by half-time time everybody knew it would not be easy for Munich, and that is important information for the opponent after they were happy with a 0-0 at Anfield". We didn't play our best but it's about getting a result.

'I really think this club deserves to have awareness again.

And fans will hope the omens will show they can go all the way again.

The Reds defeated the German giants at the Allianz Arena with a balanced performance of defensive resilience and clinical attacking play to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

After a 0-0 draw in the first leg, Luis Suarez ensured Barcelona were up 2-0 by halftime by earning a penalty converted by Messi and setting up Philippe Coutinho to score.
